O’hoy, you don’t want this one to sail by. It is honestly, one of the most lovely sailing ship wall plates I have ever seen.
The ship sails, ship body and ocean waves are made in 3d relief, raised off the plate adding so much texture and character to this beauty. The colours are wonderfully bright and crisp. There are two holes on the back of the plate where the wire is strung for hanging.
There is no makers mark on this plate but it is identical to many other Made in Japan plates that I have collected over the years. It would circa late 1950s or 1960s.
Perfect for a boys bedroom, a vintage bar or completely at home in any sea- themed collection of seaside decorated room.
This plate is in excellent vintage condition. There is only one flea bite nibble on the edge of the plate - it would be where 1 is on a clock. I have photographed it - see the last 3 photos - the second last photo shows the nibble is approx. 1mm wide and the last photo shows how the nibble looks when viewed straight on when hanging on the wall. There is another flea bite on the opposite side that is even sm aller and less noticeable. The plate has no other chips, cracks or damage. The image is bright and crisp. . The image on the plate is bright and clear with no damage.
Absolutely amazing condition for a really old piece of nostalgia.
The plate is 20.5cm across and 3cm high.
